Bangladesh role model for resisting terrorism: IGP

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: Dr Mohammed Jabed Patwari, Inspector General of Police (IGP) told on Wednesday that Bangladesh is not only role model for development of country but also role model for resisting terrorism in the world.

“We had stood against terrorism after attack of Holy Artisan and remote area of the country and we got success in these sectors with a short time like our great freedom fighting which was not seen in the world”.

He referring to USA said, “they are introducing themselves as role for democracy but till now they failed to resist terrorism in their country”.

“Bangladesh police have a great contribution in combating militancy and police in many successful anti-militancy operations since the Gulshan Holey Artisan Attack, which has been highly-acclaimed at home and abroad,” the police chief also said.

He came up to the observation at a gathering programme at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium in Rajshahi University (RU) with theme of “terrorism, militancy and anti-drugs”. The programme was organised by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police on Wednesday around 12pm on the campus amid security.

Prime Minister vision 2021 and 2041 would see face of success by stipulated time if terrorism and drugs can be removed fully from the country and terrorism and drugs are prime impediment for the development.

Suggesting the university authority to open clinical psychology cell in the dormitory he said, “Due to depression of generation young not to get job, they are addicting to drugs that’s why they, especially students are getting involvement day by day. We have to create sector for them and then taking drugs will be removed automatically”.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbubor Rahman said as chief discussant that “I’ve information that many law personnel are addicted to drugs and even selling and distributing among the addicted people.”

“To resist drugs from the society and to make young as property for the nation, all layers, politicians and even rickshaw pullers have to come forward  and  would helping hands from their stance, then it will be possible to build up drugs, terrorism and militancy free sonar bangla which is also dream of Bangabandhu”

RU vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan presided over the programme while pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr Anada Kumar Saha, DIG of police of Rajshahi Range Md Khorshid Alam, university proctor Prof Dr Luthofor Rahman, Bangladesh Chatra League of RU unit president Golam Kibrai and general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runo, president of RU student policing community Sumaya Rahman Kranti, among others, addressed the programme.
