The biggest show on the earth FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 started on June 14 and every participating nation have played their first match of the tournament.

Though cricket is the dominant sport in Bangladesh, cricket-mad people goes crazy in support of South American giants like Brazil and Argentina during FIFA World Cup.

Like every edition, FIFA World Cup made Bangladeshi people conspicuously hyped for football. They decorated their homes, offices, factories, markets and vehicles with the flags of favourite teams who are playing in the biggest football. Even some draped huge banners over the front of their buildings - and most of them are of Brazil and Argentina.

On Wednesday, Embassy of Brazil organised a press meet-up with three journalists from TV Globo— the largest Brazilian TV Channel in the capital. These journalists came to Bangladesh on June 15 and will stay till June 24.

Brazilian Ambassador in Dhaka, Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior, attended the press conference along with Globo TV reporters Clayton Conservani, Globo TV Igor Abreu and cameraman Mikael Bento.

Joao Tabajara said that former Brazilian coach and footballer Arthur Antunes Coimbra, popularly known as Zico, will arrive in Dhaka for a visit after World Cup as Brazil is looking for stronger ties with Bangladesh.

“We have many names in mind. We have contacted Zico who is free to come after the World Cup,” said the Ambassador.

The aim of the journalists’ trip is to broadcast the impressive support that the Brazilian national football team receive from Bangladeshis during the world cup.

As a part of their Bangladesh visit, the three Brazilin journalists attended a press conference on Wednesday at a hotel and hailed Bangladeshi people and their support for Brazil football team. They also praised Bangladesh’s hospitality.

“I am used to travel all around the world and cover many big sporting events. I am working in Globo TV for almost 15 years and I have never seen so warm and passionate country like Bangladesh and it is a great opportunity to be here,” Globo TV reporter Igor Abreu said.

“Our mission is to create a bridge between you audience and Brazilian people, trying to convey the feelings and passion of Bangladeshi peoples to our Brazilians,” he added.

In order to give to Brazilian spectators a whole idea of what happens in Bangladesh during the World Cup (the rivalry between Brazil and Argentina’s supporters and the decoration of buildings and streets), the three journalists are not staying only in Dhaka, but also travelling to places where the craze is at it’s high particularly at Manikganj, Narayanganj and Chattogram.

An important moment of their trip will be a gathering organised by the Brazil house in Narayanganj of one thousand people, on June 22, when Brazil will take on Costa Rica in their second group tie.

“We never saw such avid Brazilian fans in other countries. I have traveled around the world. I covered many important football events. I visited many African nations like Mali, Egypt, Senegal even they know our players like Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Romario but not passion like we are seeing here,” Globo TV reporter Clayton Conservani said.
