A fine arts exhibition titled ‘21st Young Artist Fine Arts Exhibition 2018’, organized by the Fine Arts Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will be inaugurated tomorrow by cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor at National Art Plaza with Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, secretary, ministry of cultural affairs and artist Chandra Shekhor Dey in attendance. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury will deliver the welcome speech.
Initially, a total of 787 Bangladeshi young artists submitted 1976 artworks in different categories, namely painting, print, sculpture, installation, new media and performance. A selection committee, consisting of Abdul Manna, Tarun Ghos, Bimanesh Chandra Biswas and Anisuzzaman, primarily selected 412 artworks of 380 artists for the exhibition.One young artist from each category will be honoured with ‘Young Artist Fine Arts Award’. The name of the award recipients will be declared at the opening ceremony. The best awardees will be awarded with a gold medal and Tk. 1 lac as prize money. Besides, best three artists from other three categories (Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking) will be awarded while four honorary awards will also be given. K M A Kaium, Chandra Shekhor Dey and Saidul Haque Juise were in the jury committee.
This initiative is a national platform for the future artists. It was started in 1975.
The exhibition will remain open for all from 11am to 8pm till July 28 (3pm to 8pm on Friday), 2018.
