Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Sunday reiterated a “zero tolerance” stance against corruption.
He said, “I do not engage in corruption, and neither does my state minister. Both of us have taken an oath not to indulge in corruption. We have another pledge – we will not allow anyone to commit corruption.”
He made the remarks at the Secretariat during an exchange meeting with leaders of the Teachers' and Employees' Unity Alliance, who raised concerns about the teachers’ transfer system and the absence of honest officers.
Responding to questions about financial facilities for teachers, Milon said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attached importance to the education sector and that the government would work sincerely to fulfil teachers’ demands.
“Budget allocations relate to financial matters. We will review them. Since this is not a new budget, it will take time to implement these measures,” he added.
Education State Minister Boby Hajjaj, Teachers' and Employees' Unity Alliance Chairman and Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) Public Education Affairs Secretary Principal Md Selim Bhuiya, along with other teacher leaders, were present at the meeting.
