‎The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was observed countrywide on Saturday with due religious solemnity and state honour.‎

Dhaka witnessed a colourful procession that began from the Suhrawardy Udyan and paraded through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban and Kadam Fountain crossing and returned to the venue through the western gate. The rally concluded with a Shanti Mahasammelan (Grand Peace Gathering).

‎The Jashn-e-Julus was led by Anjumane Rahmania Mainiya Maizbhandaria President and Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) Chairman Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari. Devotees from across the country began arriving in the capital early morning to attend the procession.

‎The traditional Jashn-e-Julus was also brought out in Chattogram, where thousands of people gathered in love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The procession began around 10am from Alamgir Khanka, adjacent to the Jameya Ahmadia Sunnia Kamil Madrasa in the city’s Soloshahar area, organised by the Anjuman-E- Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust.

‎Meanwhile, a tragic incident happened in Chattogram, where at least two people were killed and 10 others injured in a stampede during the procession. ‎

‎The holy day was also observed in Rajshahi with due religious reverence and solemnity. The Anjumane Ashrafia Charitable Trust and Sheroil Colony Boro Mosque organised a procession that paraded the main thoroughfares of the city before concluding at Hazrat Shah Makhdum Dargah.

‎Additionally, the traditional Eid-e-Miladunnabi procession was brought out by Gausul Azam Gausia, Talime Quran Tamauafi, and Eske Nabi from the city's Saheb Bazar area around 8:30am, which ended at Shah Makhdum Dargah Mosque after parading key city roads.

The Islamic Foundation (IF) also observed the day through various programmes, including Quran recitations, rendering Hamd-Na'at, poetry sessions, seminars, and competitions nationwide.‎

‎Meanwhile, President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman extended greetings to the people of Bangladesh and Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

‎In separate messages, they underscored the need to follow the ideals of the Prophet for peace and prosperity.
