Kayser Kamal elected Deputy Speaker of 13th Parliament

Barrister Kayser Kamal has been unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.

He was elected through a voice vote by Members of Parliament during the first sitting of the newly formed parliament.

Chair of the session Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain informed the House that only one nomination had been received for the post of Deputy Speaker. The nominee was Kayser Kamal, MP from Netrakona-1 constituency and State Minister for Land.

The chair also confirmed that Kayser Kamal had agreed to assume the responsibility.

MP Ruhul Quddus Talukdar placed the proposal for his election, which was seconded by MP Ashraful Uddin. The motion was then placed before the House and adopted with a majority “yes” vote.
