Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam has announced that the fuel rationing system for public transport will be withdrawn, assuring that buses and long-distance vehicles will receive adequate fuel supplies despite the ongoing energy challenges.
The minister made the announcement on Saturday in
the Gulistan area of Dhaka, stating that the existing limits on fuel allocation
for public transport would no longer remain in effect.
He said that from Saturday night, fuel rationing for
long-distance and public transport services would be lifted and buses would
receive sufficient fuel to maintain normal operations.
The minister also noted that complications in the
country’s fuel supply had emerged due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle
East involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which have affected global
energy markets.
