Speaking at a press conference held at his residence
on Monday afternoon, the minister said, “There is no shortage of oil in the
country. Supply is continuing. However, some pressure was created as supply
operations remained closed for the last two days due to Eid.”
He urged consumers not to panic, adding that fuel
imports have increased compared to last year.
“About 25% more fuel is being imported compared to
last year. Everyone will get oil. So I urge people not to panic and to purchase
fuel according to their actual needs,” he said.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Road Transport and
Railways Habibur Rashid Habib said security would be provided at filling
stations if necessary.
He said the government has also been able to prevent
attempts to increase prices centering on concerns over fuel supply.
“We have been able to overcome the fears that
existed before Eid. Security was provided at filling stations before Eid and
will be provided again if needed,” he added.
