Following a walkout from the National Parliament in protest against the passage of what it called “anti-people” bills, the Opposition led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called an emergency press conference.
The press conference will be
held on Thursday at 8:30pm at the National
Parliament Media Centre, where the Opposition is expected address its walkout
and other related issues regarding the recently passed bills.
Earlier, around 6pm, the Opposition staged a walkout from the
parliament, accusing the government of passing several “anti-people” bills
despite their objections.
Just before the walkout, Opposition
Leader Shafiqur Rahman said, “Regrettably, despite the opposition’s
legitimate objections, several anti-people bills have been passed today. We do
not want to take responsibility for them, and therefore, we are walking out of
the Jatiya Sangsad.”
