A Bangladeshi expatriate, Nur Karim Farhad (45) from Noakhali, was killed in a road accident in the city of Najran, Saudi Arabia. Two other expatriates were seriously injured in the incident.

The matter was confirmed on Monday by Abul Bashar Manju, Chairman of Purba Charbata Union Parishad. The accident occurred earlier on Saturday.

Farhad was the son of Chan Mia of Chandu Saudagar Bari in Purba Charbata village, Ward No. 7, under Purba Charbata Union in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali. The injured, Md. Julel (28) and Md. Hossain (32), are also residents of the same area.

According to local sources, Farhad had gone to Saudi Arabia about three years ago in search of a livelihood. Recently, he took a young man named Nur Hossain there. On Saturday night, while on the way to drop him at the airport, their vehicle collided with a lorry in the Najran area. As a result, Farhad and the two others were critically injured.

Locals rescued them and took them to a hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Farhad dead. The injured Julel and Hossain are currently in critical condition and receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Abul Bashar Manju added that a shadow of grief has fallen over the area following the news of Farhad’s death. The victim’s family has requested government assistance to bring his body back home.
