Bangladesh Police have issued a high-level intelligence alert warning of suspected coordinated attack plans by members of a banned militant organisation, with potential targets including the National Parliament and other critical state and public installations across the country.

The alert was circulated on Thursday (23 April) through an official letter signed by Quamrul Ahsan, Deputy Inspector General (confidential) at Police Headquarters.

While the official did not respond to media queries, at least three officials from the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and other branches confirmed receiving the alert by Friday.

According to the letter, recently obtained intelligence indicates that several individuals linked to the outlawed group have been in regular contact and may be planning coordinated attacks on sensitive locations.

Potential targets listed in the alert include the parliament building, major police and military facilities, places of worship, entertainment venues, and other critical infrastructure.

Law enforcement officials said the group could be considering multiple methods to carry out such attacks, heightening concerns over national security.

In response, Police Headquarters has instructed all relevant units to reinforce security at vulnerable sites, intensify surveillance efforts, and strengthen intelligence coordination to avert any potential incidents.

The alert has been shared with key agencies, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Branch (SB), and CTTC, as well as superintendents of police in all districts.

Officials noted that such alerts are part of routine precautionary measures but underscore the continued need for vigilance against extremist threats. Further operational details were not disclosed due to security considerations.
