Kazi Imdadul Haque, a recently retired tax commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has been appointed Director General of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on a contractual basis with the rank of secretary.

He joined BSTI in his new role on Sunday.

Widely recognised in both revenue administration and literary circles, Kazi Imdadul Haque has made notable national contributions over a career spanning more than three decades.

A member of the 7th batch of the BCS (Taxation) cadre, he previously served as President of the Taxes Appellate Tribunal and as a Tax Commissioner at the NBR, playing a significant role in strengthening the country’s economic and administrative framework.

Since joining the civil service in 1988, he has demonstrated professionalism and expertise across key tiers of tax administration. His tenure as Tax Commissioner and as Additional Commissioner at the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) was marked by substantial contributions to domestic resource mobilisation.

He also represented Bangladesh effectively in international forums on global tax policy and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAA). Between 2001 and 2004, he served as Private Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telecommunications.
