A total of 9,201 candidates, including Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s daughter Zaima Rahman, have passed the preliminary multiple-choice (MCQ) examination for enrolment as advocates under the Bangladesh Bar Council, according to results published on the council’s website on Friday (12 June).
Zaima confirmed her success by sharing the news through a post on her verified Facebook account.
More than 37,000 candidates sat for the examination this year. Those who passed the MCQ stage will now be eligible to sit for the written examination, the next stage of the enrolment process.
Zaima sat for the examination at the BAF Shaheen College centre in the capital.
The Bar Council’s advocate enrolment process consists of multiple stages, with candidates required to pass the MCQ examination before progressing to the written test and subsequent assessments.
The publication of the results marks an important milestone for thousands of aspiring lawyers seeking entry into Bangladesh’s legal profession.
