BNP on Sunday submitted its financial statement for the calendar year 2025 to the Election Commission (EC).
According to the statement, its total income in 2025
was Tk22,19,55,182, and expenditure was Tk15,26,10,857, leaving a surplus of Tk6,93,54,325.
A BNP delegation led by Senior Joint Secretary
General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi formally handed over the income-expenditure (audit
report) statement to Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed at the
EC Secretariat in Agargaon on Sunday afternoon.
Other members of the delegation were party Treasurer
and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, and
Assistant Office Secretary Monir Hossain.
Speaking at a briefing after submitting the statement,
Rizvi said, "Today we submitted the income-expenditure statement for the
calendar year 2025, from 1 January to 31 December, to the Commission."
He said that expenditures included financial
donations to individuals, relief distribution in flood-affected districts,
printing posters and leaflets, purchasing vehicles for party purposes, rally
expenses, hall rent and other expenses for various discussion meetings,
publishing newspaper supplements, Ramadan iftar mahfils and various official
expenses.
The veteran BNP leader informed that the opening
balance at the start of the year was Tk21,13,97,35. After the year's income and
expenditure, the total amount deposited in banks stood at Tk28,04,71,680.
Additionally, the party has Tk2,79,700 in cash on hand. The final total balance
is Tk28,07, 51, 360.
"As
every year, the income-expenditure statement was prepared following proper
auditing and legal processes. The party's auditor verified the accounts, the
treasurer supervised it, and after approval and signatures from the party
chairman and secretary general, it was submitted to the EC," he added.
Rizvi further said that submitting the
income-expenditure statement to the EC by 31 July each year is part of ensuring
financial transparency of political parties and establishing accountability to
the people.
"Total income of Tk22,19,55,182 was received
from various sources, including Executive Committee subscriptions, book sales,
primary membership and nomination form sales, individual and institutional
donations, and bank deposit interest," he said.
On the other hand, the party spent Tk15,26,10,857 on
various sectors, including financial assistance to individuals, relief
distribution in flood-affected areas, printing posters and leaflets, purchasing
vehicles for party purposes, expenses for rallies and discussion meetings, hall
rent, publishing newspaper supplements, Ramadan iftar mahfils and various
official expenditures.
In response to a journalist's question regarding the
participation of Awami League leaders in local government elections, Rizvi
said, since elections are not being held on party symbols, the Election Commission
and the courts are responsible for deciding who can participate. The EC will
determine the matter according to existing laws.
