The first batch of students of Japanese language course will join their technical and related jobs in the Fareast Country by October, said Prime Minister’s Adviser and Spokesperson Mahdi Amin.

The second batch will complete joining by January next year, he further said at a high-level meeting held at the Secretariat.

The meeting was focused on reviewing the progress of an MoU signed with Japanese partners concerning the overseas employment process.

Under the MoU, the Japan-based “Town Life Japan Ltd” would fully fund the training and travel for Bangladeshi aspiring migrant workers, while also financing the renovation of the Dhaka Polytechnic laboratory.

Diploma holders in civil, electrical and architecture will be sent to Japan through employment visas.

Speaking at the memorandum implementation review meeting, Mahdi Amin said manpower exports from Bangladesh began during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. In the current changed circumstances, Japan’s labour market is extremely important for Bangladesh, he noted.

“In this context, the government will provide the highest level of support to Japanese language teachers coming to Bangladesh. We are also working to facilitate their visa application process and accommodation by resolving procedural complications,” he said.

He further said the Bangladesh government is working relentlessly to open up labour markets in various countries around the world. Various measures are being taken with emphasis on learning third languages. Work is also underway to enhance the capacity of technical training centers.

The Town Life Japan Ltd signed the MoU with Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, pledging to fund trainings on Japanese language course and technical skills for Bangladeshi aspiring expatriates. After the training participants pass language and other exams, the Japanese company would also fund their travel to Japan.

The first batch of trainees have nearly completed their courses, and training for the second batch is now underway. Under the MoU, Town Life Japan would also finance upgradation of the laboratory at Dhaka Polytechnic and provide advanced training equipment.
