Family of Miraj Sheikh will not be denied justice: Law minister

The family of MIraj Sheikh, a fisherman from Bagerhat missing since 10 April, will not be denied justice, said Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Tuesday.

The family has alleged in a general diary (GD) that Miraj Sheikh was picked up by the Coast Guard -- in what would be the first reported case of enforced disappearance by law enforcers under BNP government.

The government has come to know of the alleged enforced disappearance and has instructed officials to investigate the case with utmost caution and priority, Asaduzzaman said at a meeting at the Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Local lawmakers, government officials and civil society members took part in the views exchange meeting, among others.
