Students should develop technology and innovations that improve public safety and make people’s lives easier, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Administration Md Ismail Zabihullah said on Saturday.
“Students should come forward with technologies that can be used for public welfare and make people’s lives safer, easier and better,” he said.
Zabihullah was speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day ‘Third Inter Astronomical Appogee 2026’ science and astronomy festival at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on Bailey Road.
He urged students to develop practical technological solutions for agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, environmental protection and communications.
Over the next five years, he hoped the institution’s astronomy club would produce young innovators capable of developing satellite models, functional drones and new sensors, securing patents and launching startups.
He said drones could be used for firefighting and security in densely populated Dhaka, while AI-based systems could help provide early warnings of floods and cyclones.
Zabihullah said the government was encouraging startups and innovation and had formed a Tk500 crore startup fund to support innovative initiatives.
Students from 15 Dhaka colleges, including Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College, participated in the festival.
