A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Bangladesh high commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem, her husband and Generation Next Fashions Ltd Chairman Touhidul Islam Chowdhury, and two others in connection with graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order on Tuesday.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Relations Officer Md Tanjir Ahmed confirmed the information on Wednesday.
The other two facing travel bans are Touhidul’s sons Alvi Azfar Chowdhury and Javed Opgenhaffen.
According to an ACC petition filed by Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam, an investigation is ongoing against them over allegations of embezzling around Tk2,000 crore in bank loans and laundering the money abroad.
The application said the commission had information from reliable sources that the individuals concerned might leave the country.
The ACC sought the travel ban to prevent their departure while the investigation is underway.
