The Special
Response Battalion (SRB) has discovered 15 crude bombs, and two Molotov
cocktails from a field in Agargaon, where the international trade fair used to
be held until 2021.
SRB found
the explosive items after conducting a raid in the area based on a tip-off on
Monday evening, said SRB-2 Commanding Officer Naimul Hassan.
SRB has
cordoned off the area for security purposes. The bomb disposal unit of police are
working to defuse the explosive items.
SRB is conducting another raid at a graveyard in the capital, officials said, adding the details will be revealed on Tuesday morning.
The
discovery of explosive items follows a series of crude bomb blasts and arson
attacks across the capital, allegedly by members of Awami League and affiliated
organisations, all banned political entities.
Only two
days ago, members of Awami League and affiliated organisations launched a flash
procession and hurled crude bombs in Dhanmondi. Police later detained four
people from Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur in connection with the incident.
