Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said that to ensure an environment conducive to children's education, welafre, safety and healthy growth, the government has taken various initiatives.

"Alongside general education, measures have been taken to expand opportunities for technical education, improve school infrastructure, and provide amenities such as free textbooks and uniforms," he said.

Dulu said this on Saturday while exchanging views with headmasters and assistant teachers from primary schools in Sadar upazila at the District Council premises in Lalmonirhat district town, aimed at improving the quality of education, said a press release.

Comparing the primary education environment of the past with the present, the minister noted that many schools previously lacked adequate chairs, benches, and proper infrastructure.

He observed that the school environment and facilities have since undergone significant improvements.

Highlighting the role of the family in a child's upbringing, he said, "Mothers raise children with affection and love. Guardians bear the responsibility of looking after children, keeping them away from bad company and ensuring they remain engaged in their studies."

Emphasising the importance of teacher and student attendance at educational institutions, he shared his experience of visiting a primary school where, despite having five or six teachers, there were only 13 students.

He stressed the need for teachers and guardians to play a responsible role in ensuring regular student attendance at school.

Regarding technical education, the minister said that greater emphasis would be placed on this sector in the coming year.

Introducing technical education opportunities in these institutions would enable students to acquire job-oriented skills alongside their academic studies, which would prove beneficial for their future careers, he added.

Teachers from various primary schools in Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat district and local journalists were present at the event.
