The parliamentary committee dealing with staffing issues at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Secretariat has recommended expediting recruitment for 16 vacant posts and decided to publish recruitment notices for third- and fourth-class positions in the first week of November.

The committee recommended sending a letter to the chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) to complete recruitment for 15 first-class and one second-class post as soon as possible.

The decisions were taken at the committee’s first meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday.

Chairman of the committee Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal presided over the meeting, while it was attended by committee members and Whip M Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, Kazi Rafiqul Islam, Md Selim Reza, Md Mahbubul Alam and Shammi Akhter.

Whip ABM Ashraf Uddin (Nizan) attended at the special invitation of the committee chairman. Relevant officials of the Parliament Secretariat were also present.

The meeting discussed filling vacant posts at the Parliament Secretariat, evaluating the performance of officers and employees, and taking effective measures to improve their efficiency.

The meeting also discussed the recruitment of 86 people in light of a court verdict. The committee recommended keeping the relevant posts reserved and completing the recruitment process in accordance with the court’s ruling.

The recommendations are part of efforts to address staffing gaps and improve the administrative capacity of the Parliament Secretariat. However, the recruitment processes will need to proceed through the relevant authorities and formal procedures.

The committee formed on 16 September 2025, during the interim government’s tenure to deal with staffing matters was dissolved with effect from 14 October 2026.
