Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Thursday suspended all flights from Dhaka to Riyadh and Dammam until 18 October, citing passenger safety amid ongoing attacks on Saudi airports.

The airline initially suspended its Riyadh services before extending the suspension to Dammam.

To help passengers travel during the suspension, Biman has advised them to use Jeddah and Madinah international airports, according to a press statement.

The national flag carrier has also replaced Boeing 787 aircraft with Boeing 777s on its Madinah route, adding 148 seats per flight, and arranged three additional flights to Jeddah to meet passenger demand.

Biman said it would provide further updates on the suspended services and flight schedules in due course. Passengers have been advised to contact their nearest Biman sales centre for ticketing and travel information.

A total of 103 direct and transit flights connecting Bangladesh with Saudi Arabia have been disrupted, affecting 15,779 passengers amid operational disruptions and security concerns at Saudi airports, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
