The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all officers and employees working at the Secretariat to keep their professional identity cards visibly displayed whenever they enter or remain inside the complex.

The instruction was issued in a circular dated 3 November by the ministry’s Secretariat Security Branch.

Signed by Deputy Secretary Kazi Arifur Rahman, the circular was sent to the secretaries and senior secretaries of all ministries and divisions.

The measure aims to strengthen internal security, tighten access control and maintain discipline within the Secretariat, the circular said.

It noted that visitors enter the complex through various types of passes, including permanent, temporary, meeting-based and one-time password (OTP) passes.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s regular presence at the Secretariat, the circular said displaying identity cards was essential to ensure internal security as the Prime Minister was attending office there every day.

All ministries and divisions have been asked to instruct their staff to comply with the directive and keep their Secretariat entry cards in a clearly visible position at all times.
