Bashundhara Shuvosangho has handed over financial assistance
to a youth, who was seriously injured in a road accident while on duty, at his
residence in Sardarpara area in Bhangura municipal town of Pabna.
With the overall assistance of Shuvosangho’s Bhangura
upazila branch adviser Dr Zahid Hasan, Shuvosangho members handed over Tk10,000
to Hafizur’s father, Nurul Islam, on Tuesday to allow the family to continue
his medical treatment.
Shuvosangho Bhangura upazila branch President Ariful Islam,
General Secretary Shakib Khan, Vice-President Abdul Malek and several other
members were present on the occasion.
According to sources, Hafizur works as a sales
representative for a cigarette company. On 13 June, he was travelling to Pabna
town on a company motorcycle for work when he was seriously injured in a road
accident at Debottor Bazar in Atgharia upazila on the Baghabari-Tebunia road.
The accident left him with multiple fractures in his arms, legs and other parts
of the body.
Local residents rescued Hafizur and took him to Pabna
General Hospital, from where he was referred to the Pangu Hospital in Dhaka.
However, lacking the financial means to continue treatment
there, he returned home in a critical condition. His family has since been
seeking assistance from various sources to continue his treatment. At this
difficult time, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has stepped forward to support him.
Hafizur’s father, Nurul Islam, said, “My son is bedridden.
We are struggling to afford his treatment and living with constant anxiety. This
support will be of great help to us. We are grateful to these generous and
compassionate people.”
Shuvosangho’s Ariful Islam said, “We work on the principle
that humanity exists to serve humanity. The members of the Bhangura Upazila
branch of Shuvosangho have been carrying out various humanitarian activities
based on this belief. All these efforts receive overall support from our chief
adviser, engineer Dr Zahid Hasan. His encouragement and assistance inspire us
in all our work.”
