A bamboo footbridge (locally known as shako) has been built in Kalipura village of Kukua union under Amtali upazila in Barguna on the initiative of Bashundhara Shuvosangho to facilitate the movement of local residents.
The footbridge was constructed by the Amtali upazila unit Shuvosangho, considering the needs of local people who had long been suffering from commuting difficulties.
Talukdar Md Masud Rana, a member of Ward-6 of Kukua Union, was present as a guest at the inauguration ceremony.
Also present were Amtali upazila unit Shuvosangho Adviser Md Al Amin Babu, Cultural Affairs Secretary Gazi Nasir, members Nazmul Ahsan, Nayan Das and Naimur Rahman Naim, along with local dignitaries.
At the event, the guests said even small initiatives for people's welfare could bring about significant positive changes in society. Although building a bamboo footbridge might appear to be a small initiative, it is closely linked to people's daily lives.
They said such public welfare initiatives are therefore important as they prioritise people's needs.
They further said Bashundhara Shuvosangho is not limited to creating social awareness; standing by people in times of need and carrying out practical welfare activities are also among its key objectives.
Welcoming the initiative of Shuvosangho, local residents said the organisation's efforts to address a long-standing problem are highly commendable.
