Orphaned Rakib has received financial assistance from Bashundhara Shuvosangho to enrol in Class XI, helping him continue his education despite financial hardship.
The teenager from Telirchala village in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur passed his SSC examination from Mouchak Model School. He now wants to enrol in Class XI at Professor Shahjahan Ali School and College, but was worried about arranging the money needed for admission.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Kaliakair upazila unit handed over the necessary financial assistance to Rakib on Tuesday.
Rakib, who lost both his parents at an early age, currently lives with his maternal uncle and continues his studies despite financial difficulties.
Members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho said the organisation stands beside underprivileged and meritorious students so that financial hardship or family circumstances do not force them to discontinue their education.
Niranjan Chandra Das, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Kaliakair upazila unit, said the organisation’s main goal was to work for people’s welfare and support vulnerable and meritorious individuals.
“Rakib has no parents, but he has tremendous determination. We stood beside him so that his education does not stop due to financial hardship. Shuvosangho will continue to support him on his journey towards success,” he said.
He called on financially capable people and social organisations to support students facing similar challenges, saying even a small contribution can make a significant difference in a student’s life.
Rakib expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for the assistance, saying he had been worried about how he would enrol in Class XI and continue his studies.
“The assistance has eased my worries considerably. I want to concentrate on my studies and become self-reliant in the future,” he said.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Kaliakair upazila unit joint secretary Russell Mahmud, executive members Sabuj Kumar Sarker, Abdul Hossain and Tariqul Islam Sahed, among others, were present during the assistance handover.
