A youth skill-development workshop was held in Kuakata on Wednesday, focusing on leadership qualities, effective communication, and confidence building to nurture skilled and socially responsible citizens.
The event, titled "Leadership, Communication and Confidence:
Keys to Youth Progress," was hosted at the Rural Enhancement Organisation
office, drawing students from various local secondary and higher secondary
institutions.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Kuakata Municipal Unit President Md
Saidur Rahman presided over the session, while Principal of Amirabad School and
College Md Monirul Islam addressed the gathering as the chief guest.
The discussion also featured Kalaparabasi voluntary
organisation member Nazrul Islam, Upokul Pathagar General Secretary Md Azizul
Islam, General Secretary Md Jahidul Islam, Vice Presidents Md Hossain Amir and
Md Redwan Russel, and Finance Secretary Md Al-Amin alongside participating
students.
The workshop focused on core life skills, including public
speaking, articulate self-expression, empathetic listening, collaborative
teamwork, and critical problem-solving. Speakers noted that formal academic
education alone is insufficient in today’s competitive global environment,
stressing that communication ability, creative thinking, and confidence are
essential for professional and personal growth.
Speakers pointed out that genuine leadership extends beyond holding formal office; it entails shouldering accountability, supporting team members, making informed decisions, and driving collective goals. They encouraged learners to cultivate these attributes during student life so they can contribute meaningfully to community development and nation-building.
They added that the creativity, intellect, and civic
engagement of youth will determine the trajectory of an equitable society,
urging students to actively participate in community services and pursue
continuous learning.
Participating students commended the initiative, stating
that the practical takeaways would help them navigate academic challenges, and
called for similar capacity-building programmes in the coastal belt.
