The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) has called for stronger Bangladesh-China cooperation in education, technical skills development, textiles, fashion and industry-based training to help build a more skilled workforce.
BCCCI President Mohd Khorshed Alam made the call at a discussion with a 12-member delegation from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), China, at the BCCCI office in Dhaka on Saturday, according to a press release.
Led by Prof Xu Qiujie, vice dean and professor of the School of Fashion, Design and Engineering at ZSTU, the delegation included professors and academic professionals specialising in fashion design, textiles, technology and engineering.
Khorshed said BCCCI was keen to strengthen links between Bangladeshi educational institutions, textile industries, and Chinese universities and businesses.
He highlighted a BCCCI initiative to provide Bangladeshi textile students with practical exposure in China through factory visits, industry engagement and hands-on training.
Prof Xu Qiujie expressed strong interest in expanding academic and industry collaboration with Bangladesh, highlighting opportunities for joint academic programmes, university-to-university cooperation, technical knowledge exchange, industry-oriented training and capacity building.
He also expressed interest in creating opportunities for Bangladeshi students in fashion, textiles and related disciplines to pursue academic and practical learning at ZSTU, including exposure to China’s advanced textile and fashion industries.
Representatives from both sides also discussed student exchanges, university collaboration, technical training, industry exposure, knowledge sharing and joint initiatives in fashion and textile education.
The meeting was attended by BCCCI Vice President Masud Ali Khan, BCCCI Director Prof Rakibul Hoque, representatives of the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER), BCCCI members and members of the visiting delegation.
