The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) has organised a training workshop to help businesses navigate public procurement laws and participate more effectively in government tenders through the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system.
The workshop, held at the BCI boardroom in the capital on Saturday, covered the Public Procurement Act, 2006, Public Procurement Rules, 2025 and the e-GP system, according to a press release.
BCI Senior Vice President Preeti Chakraborty chaired the inaugural session, while BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) attended the closing session and distributed certificates among participants.
Former secretary and former chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority S M Moin Uddin Ahmed conducted the training as the resource person.
The sessions covered key provisions of public procurement laws and rules, the operation of the e-GP system and its benefits, including greater transparency, accountability and efficiency.
The resource person also explained how businesses can participate in government tenders through e-GP and use the digital platform to make procurement activities faster and more accessible.
In her opening remarks, Preeti Chakraborty said BCI was continuing its capacity-building initiatives for the business community and that the training would strengthen participants’ understanding of the technical aspects of e-GP.
The workshop brought together BCI members, government procurement-related organisations, lawyers, entrepreneurs and trainees. Participants also took part in an interactive question-and-answer session.
The programme was conducted by BCI Secretary General Dr Md Helal Uddin, NDC.
