Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has said that fuel
prices in Bangladesh remain relatively controlled compared to other countries
in the middle of volatilities sparked by the Middle East war.
He made the remarks while briefing journalists on Wednesday
after a dialogue organized by the Institute of Strategy and Tactics Research
(ISTR) at a hotel of Banani in the capital.
Mahdi Amin said, “Despite various pressures and challenges
in the global market, the government has been able to maintain stability in the
energy sector. Compared to other countries, fuel prices in our country are
still under control.”
He noted that although some initial challenges emerged in
the energy sector, the government responded quickly. The situation was managed
through discussions with local and international experts, international
negotiations, and exploring alternative sources.
He added, “We have been able to maintain a stable supply of
fuel in line with demand. The government has adopted effective policies by
turning global challenges into opportunities.”
He also claimed that these initiatives have brought
stability to the energy sector and helped keep the burden on the public
comparatively low.
At the briefing, the Prime Minister’s Adviser said that the
government formed through the 13th national parliamentary election has begun
working to meet public expectations. Over the past two and a half months since
the election, steps have been taken to implement the promises outlined in the
election manifesto, which he described as “unprecedented.”
He said, “The country is being governed in line with the
aspirations and expectations of the people. Under the leadership of Prime
Minister Tarique Rahman, efforts are underway to implement the commitments.”
Mahdi Amin further said that discussions are ongoing at the
DC (Deputy Commissioner) Conference regarding the implementation of government
policies with field-level administration.
He also noted that a vibrant environment has returned to
parliament after a long time, where both ruling and opposition members are
engaging in open discussions.
He emphasized that the country will move forward by
upholding democratic values, the rule of law, and freedom of expression,
stressing the importance of coexistence and mutual harmony in building the
Bangladesh of the future.
Highlighting progress in various sectors, he said that work
is advancing in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure in line with
commitments, improving people’s living standards.
He also claimed that the law and order situation remains
stable.
He added that the government’s main goal is to ensure
public welfare and build a state system based on transparency, accountability,
and responsibility.
In conclusion, he expressed hope that under the Prime
Minister’s leadership, the government will continue working to ensure
prosperity and self-reliance for every citizen of the country.
