Agriculture, food, and fisheries to get 0.63% of GDP

The government has proposed Tk43,335 crore for the agriculture, food, and fisheries and livestock ministries in the national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 (FY27), which is 0.63 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

On the other hand, the revised budget for FY26 allocated Tk37,126 crore to the sector, accounting for 0.61% of GDP, which means the allocation has been raised by around Tk7,000 crore this time.

The proposed allocation is expected to further strengthen activities for the development of the respective sectors and ensure food security.
