The MoU signing ceremony was held at the
Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Agargaon, Dhaka, under
the "Leveraging Youth Employment in Bangladesh through Improving their
Employability and Competitiveness to Fit with the 21st Century Job Market
(LIFT)" project.
The project is funded by ChorogUsan for Children,
with technical support from Educo and implementation by ESDO. It aims to
improve the employability of disadvantaged youth through market-driven TVET,
life skills development, career guidance and stronger employment linkages with
the private sector.
The seven partner organisations are Aziz Air
Services Ltd, Dream Power Bangladesh, PRAN Group, Metal Fairs, Navana CNG,
Hotel Sarina Dhaka and Amari Dhaka.
The partnerships are expected to create greater
employment opportunities for TVET graduates by facilitating internships,
industrial attachments, workplace exposure, on-the-job training, recruitment
and direct employment.
The collaboration will also strengthen industry
engagement in skills development, helping ensure that TVET training remains
aligned with current labour market demands and emerging industry needs.
Speaking at the event, Afzal Kabir Khan, manager of
child labour elimination at Educo, outlined the project's objectives and key
achievements. He said the initiative seeks to equip disadvantaged young people
with market-oriented technical skills, enabling them to secure decent jobs and
sustainable livelihoods through quality TVET.
Shahriar Mahmud, head of TVET at ESDO, said the
project's training curriculum has been developed in close consultation with
industry stakeholders. He added that ESDO regularly incorporates employers'
feedback and emerging skill requirements into the curriculum to ensure
graduates acquire relevant competencies and improve their employment prospects.
Among others, Tanvir Anwar Pony, training and development
manager of Xinxian Hospitality Training Institute (XHTI), and Sudipto Debnath
Antu, assistant manager (Human Resources) at PRAN-RFL Group, also spoke at the
programme.
