Many criminals are repeatedly committing offences after securing bail, highlighting the unstable law and order situation prevailing in the country since the overthrow of the autocratic Awami League government during last year’s July mass uprising.
Major Mohammad Najmullahel Wadud, deputy commander of RAB-2, disclosed this at a press conference in the capital on Monday morning. He said notorious drug dealers Buniya Sohel and Chua Selim of Geneva Camp were arrested multiple times but each time they managed to secure bail and returned to the same criminal activities.
The RAB official further said that ahead of the national election, some groups are attempting to create unrest, but law enforcement agencies are working to keep the situation under control.
About the firearms looted from police stations, Major Wadud said that the weapons changed several hands and even after a year they could not be recovered fully.
