A police constable was arrested with 10,000 pieces of Yaba at Lohagara upazila in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The arrestee, Monirul Islam, a member of Special Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), was posted at Kotwali Zone.

He hails from Ukhiya upazila under Cox's Bazar district.

Officer in-Charge (OC) Ariful Islam of Lohagara Police Station said Monirul was going towards Chattogram city from Cox’s Bazar on a motorbike.

“His bike was stopped at police check-post on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in front of the range office of Chunati Forest Division in the morning,” the OC said.

“A total of 10,000 pieces of Yaba were recovered from his possession at that time”, he added.

A case was filed in this connection and the arrestee was sent to jail following a court order in the afternoon, the OC further said.
