European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the party chairperson’s office in the capital's Gulshan on Wednesday morning.

The meeting focused on Bangladesh’s current political situation, the upcoming national election, and issues related to democracy and human rights, said a press release.

BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir, and Organising Secretary Shama Obaid were present at the meeting.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman also joined the meeting virtually.
