Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has said that efforts are ongoing to resume tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens, which have remained suspended.
He made the remarks on Monday while responding to a
question from journalists after a meeting with the Prime Minister’s Finance Adviser
Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir.
Verma said efforts to restart the visa services are
continuing and the public will be informed once the process resumes.
Earlier this month, the Indian envoy had expressed
hope that visa operations between India and Bangladesh would return to normal
soon.
Regarding his meeting with the prime minister’s
adviser, the high commissioner said discussions focused on cross-border power
trade and energy connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
He added that both sides also reviewed ongoing
bilateral projects and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in the
energy sector.
