The discussion also covered ongoing efforts
to create employment opportunities for Bangladeshis in Japan’s IT sector and
giving priority to part-time jobs for Bangladeshi workers.
Tanaka observed that several sectors in Tokyo
are already experiencing a shortage of skilled workers, particularly in small
and medium enterprises. He informed the delegation about Tokyo Metropolitan
Government’s support programmes aimed at addressing this challenge, including Tokyo
Career Guide (https://www.tdh.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/english),
Tokyo Internship (https://tcgi.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/intern),
Business Development Center Tokyo (https://www.investtokyo.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/.../bdc-tokyo),
and Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center (https://www.startup-support.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/onestop/en/).
Under the Tokyo Internship programme,
candidates with JLPT N3 or higher are eligible to come to Japan. The Tokyo
authorities expressed interest in recruiting skilled workforce from Bangladesh.
The ambassador welcomed the proposal to
organise a joint seminar on the potential of Bangladeshi manpower for Japan’s small
and medium enterprises. He also assured full support from the Bangladesh
Embassy and government for employing Bangladeshi workers across various sectors
in Tokyo.
