US Embassy in Dhaka prepares to celebrate America’s 250th founding anniversary

The United States Embassy in Bangladesh will organise a series of programmes to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence under the “Freedom 250” initiative.

The United States will celebrate 250 years of independence on 4 July 2026, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the beginning of the country’s political journey, said the embassy on social media.

The embassy said the programmes in Bangladesh would honour American history, celebrate the country’s achievements and beauty, encourage innovation, and strengthen confidence in the future.

The initiative will also recognise the contributions of Americans, both past and present, while inviting local friends and partners in Bangladesh to join the celebrations.

According to the embassy, the observance will highlight the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and the United States, based on shared values of freedom and a common vision for a free, open, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

“Freedom 250 is not only about looking back at the past, but also about moving forward towards the future,” the embassy said.
