Bodies of Bangladeshis killed in Kolkata fire to be brought home soon: Shama

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam said on Wednesday that the bodies of Bangladeshi nationals killed in the hotel fire in Kolkata would be brought back to Bangladesh soon.

“Five Bangladeshi nationals killed in the Kolkata hotel fire have been identified. Four of them are members of the same family. The bodies of those killed will be brought back home soon,” she told journalists at the Foreign Ministry.

The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata has already contacted the victims' families, the state minister said.

She said the government would bear the cost of bringing the bodies back if the families are unable to afford the expenses.
