Newly-appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said on Saturday that there is no rush for the prime minister’s India visit, which will take place at the right time if the negotiation progresses based on national interests.
The government wants to keep positive and effective
relations with India. However, the government cannot advance its relationship
with any country through compromising its national interests, Humaiun said.
The state minister made the remarks while speaking
to the media after paying tribute at the National Memorial on Saturday.
Reiterating that there is no rush for PM’s India
visit, the state minister said, “We can go to India even this week or the next
week if we can reach an agreement on our national interests.”
Focusing on the necessary preparation and negotiation,
Humaiun added that a PM-level visit cannot take place out of the blue.
“It is not a playful thing,” the state minister
added.
