Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid a farewell call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
The state minister appreciated the ambassador’s role in strengthening Bangladesh-China relations and his contribution to the successful visit of Prime Minister to China.

Humaiun Kobir said Ambassador Wen’s work in Bangladesh had received considerable visibility and noted that bilateral relations had been elevated to a Shared Community level during his tenure.
The state minister also said several new mechanisms, including a state minister-level 2+2 mechanism, are set to commence.
Ambassador Yao said it had been a great honour to serve in Bangladesh for three years and nine months.
He congratulated the foreign minister on his election as president of the United Nations General Assembly, describing it as a proud moment for Bangladesh.
The ambassador reaffirmed that China would continue to support Bangladesh in its development journey.
Chinese envoy also informed the state minister that the minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) is keen to visit Bangladesh by the end of this year.
The ambassador said the minister has strong connections with Bangladesh, as his father had served as China’s ambassador to Bangladesh and presented his credentials to then-President Ziaur Rahman.
The state minister expressed confidence that Bangladesh-China relations would continue to grow.
He thanked Ambassador Yao for his service and wished him success in his new assignment, saying their paths would cross again. He also said Bangladesh was delighted to have had him serve in the country.
