Yasmin Jahan Nupur’s solo exhibition titled ‘Unraveling Silence’ is underway at the Quamrul Hassan Exhibition Hall of Bengal Shilpalay in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

The exhibition depicts Nupur’s signature soft sculptures and multi-sensory installations, inspired by her deep engagement with architecture, landscape, displacement, and traditional textiles—particularly Jamdani, the fine handwoven muslin of Bangladesh. Her works explore intimacy and human connection through the delicate interplay of texture, sound, and space.

About the exhibition, Nupur said, “Textiles have always surrounded me—from embroidered quilts to the legendary tales of muslin and Jamdani. What once seemed ordinary now reveals itself as a living archive of labour, love, and survival.”

In her practice, stitching, weaving, and mending symbolise endurance and tenderness, transforming fabric—often dismissed as “craft”—into a medium of presence, protest, and power.

A visual and performance artist, Nupur’s work examines class divisions, gender roles, and migration in South Asia. She aims to foster empathy and understanding across social boundaries through her art.

Nupur is the co-founder of Vukhanda Artist Space and a member of Britto Arts Trust. She is represented by Exhibit320 Gallery, New Delhi, and lives and works in Narayanganj.

Her works have been widely exhibited, including at Desh-Pardesh (2025), Shared Worlds (2025), A Flying Seed and a Bird Named Hiramon (2023) in Berlin, and Let Me Get You a Nice Cup of Tea (2019–20), later acquired by Tate Modern, London.

Winner of the Grand Prize at the Asian Art Biennale 2022, Nupur’s works are part of prestigious collections such as Tate Modern, Whitworth Art Gallery, Samdani Art Foundation, and Bengal Foundation.
