Bangladesh has strongly condemned the recent Houthi drone strike on the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah of Saudi Arabia, which supplies electricity to the mosque of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Although the attack on 29 September put one transformer out of service, it did not affect the wider electricity network, according to a Saudi-led coalition currently fighting the Houthis.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday, saying that deliberate targeting of vital civilian infrastructure serving the Prophet’s Mosque was an unacceptable assault on the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The statement also expressed Bangladesh’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in defending the kingdom’s security and sovereignty.
“Bangladesh firmly rejects any act of aggression that harms regional peace and stability,” it said.
