Amidst a vibrant display of flower bouquets and cakes sent by dignitaries, readers, patrons, advertisers, and well-wishers, the Daily Sun has celebrated its 15th anniversary with renewed commitment to impartial journalism and truth-seeking.
The popular national English broadsheet hosted a day-long celebration at its Bashundhara Residential Area office on Sunday, marking 15 years since its inception on 24 October 2010.

Guests from diverse fields attended the event to share in the joy of the Daily Sun’s journey and future aspirations. The milestone programme drew a galaxy of distinguished guests, including high dignitaries, foreign diplomats, former ambassadors, academicians, researchers, business leaders, senior journalists and civil society representatives. They lauded the newspaper’s dedication to responsible and balanced journalism.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest, Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman and Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG) Chairman Safwan Sobhan reflected on his early days with the Daily Sun and congratulated the team on its achievements.

“I told my Daily Sun team that growth and improvement are everyday work. With the help of our colleagues, friends, and diplomats, we seek your guidance and blessings so that, together as partners, we can deliver on our commitment, which is true and impartial,” the young business icon said.
Ambassadors and diplomats of different countries stationed in Dhaka have greeted the Daily Sun on its 15th founding anniversary of publication and wished it continued success.
Congratulating the Daily Sun on behalf of the people of his country, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Yao Wen said the Daily Sun is one of the strongest voices promoting cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
“When we celebrated our National Day at the beginning of this month, Daily Sun published a four-day supplement on Bangladesh-China relations. We look forward to another 50 years of prosperous relations,” he said.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma said the Daily Sun, over the past 15 years, has played an important role in developing and promoting media exchanges between India and Bangladesh, as well as strengthening relations through the media and reflecting people’s opinions.
“I believe that, moving forward, Daily Sun will continue to work toward fostering closer people-to-people ties and further developing our shared understanding,” he said. Attending the programme, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Park Young Sik also wished the daily on the occasion of its 15th anniversary.

He said, “In the present time, social media has become another major platform. We hope to move forward beyond the spread of misinformation that often puts our democracy and sovereignty at risk. I believe the Daily Sun will play an important role in this regard.”
Head of News of News24 television channel Shariful Islam Khan described the Daily Sun as a symbol of power. “This is the power to reveal truth, the power to speak boldly, the power to fight for rights, and the power to express what common people want to say. The Daily Sun will become even more powerful. I hope the Daily Sun will continue to shine like the sun in Bangladesh’s journalism,” he said.
Daily Sun Publisher Maynal Hossain Chowdhury expressed gratitude to the patrons of the Daily Sun.
