Security has been significantly strengthened in and around the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) as the court prepares to deliver its verdict today in the case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and two of her senior aides over alleged crimes against humanity linked to the July Uprising.
The verdict is expected to be handed down by the International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder.
Authorities have installed a four-tier security cordon surrounding the tribunal, involving personnel from the army, Border Guard Bangladesh, Rapid Action Battalion, police, and the Armed Police Battalion.
Vehicle movement has been restricted on the stretch of road from the High Court gate to Doyel Chattar, while law enforcers are conducting thorough checks on all individuals entering both the High Court and tribunal premises.
Rab-3 Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Abdul Karim said, “We have been instructed by higher authorities to maintain strict vigilance to ensure law and order in the area.”
