Holding a US visa does not guarantee entry: Embassy

The United States Embassy in Dhaka on Saturday cautioned that holding a valid US visa does not guarantee entry into the country.
In a message posted on its verified Facebook page, the embassy emphasised that the final decision on entry into the United States, as well as the duration of stay, rests solely with immigration officers at the port of entry.
According to the embassy, possession of a US visa does not ensure travel to the country. Immigration officials at the entry point determine whether a traveller will be allowed to enter and the length of their permitted stay. Even with a valid visa, authorities may deny entry if deemed necessary.
The embassy also warned visa holders that overstaying beyond the authorised period or engaging in activities not permitted under the visa category, such as working on a tourist visa, constitutes a serious violation. Such breaches may result in permanent restrictions on future travel to the United States.
