A Dhaka court on Sunday granted a five-day remand for four accused in the murder case of “top-listed criminal” Tarik Saif Mamun, who was shot dead in front of National Medical College Hospital in Old Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman passed the order after police produced them before the court and sought a 10-day remand after showing them arrested in a murder case filed with Sutrapur Police Station.
The accused who were placed on remand are – Md Faruk Hossain Faisal, Robin Ahmed Piyas, Md Rubel, and Shamim Ahmed.
On 12 November, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra placed the four accused, along with another Yusuf, on a four-day remand in an arms case filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station of the capital.
Mamun was shot dead in broad daylight on 10 November in front of National Medical College Hospital, just after appearing in court for a murder case hearing.
The police claimed the murder was the result of an underworld feud and was carried out by hired shooters – Faruk and Robin – for Tk2 lakh.
Roni, another suspected criminal, allegedly masterminded the murder following a dispute with Mamun. Roni was part of the same gang that included “top criminals” Sanjidul Islam Iman and the slain Mamun.
