The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has urged Bangladeshi expatriates to comply with Malaysian laws and workplace rules and exercise caution online amid increased raids and arrests of workers without valid documents.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the High Commission shared guidelines issued by the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment for Bangladeshis living and working in Malaysia.
It advised expatriates to respect Malaysian laws, local cyber regulations, workplace policies, and religious, social and cultural values. They were also urged to use social media responsibly, verify information before sharing photographs or videos, and avoid suspicious links, files, messages and phishing attempts.
The mission warned expatriates against sharing, liking or promoting content linked to terrorism, extremism or banned organisations. They were also advised not to spread rumours, false information or hate speech, or post provocative content related to international conflicts.
Bangladeshis were told not to join political or online campaigns prohibited in Malaysia, make unverified donations, or photograph or publish images of workplaces, airports, ports, government facilities or security-sensitive locations.
