Bangladesh and the United Kingdom are looking to deepen economic ties and expand cooperation in human resource development as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke held talks on Sunday.
“During the meeting, they exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, including the current state of Bangladesh-UK bilateral relations,” Prime Minister’s Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque told reporters.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, economic affairs, education, skills development, migration and human resource development, he said.
The two sides stressed the need to further strengthen the longstanding friendly ties between Bangladesh and the UK and broaden bilateral cooperation into new areas.
They also discussed continued UK support for Bangladesh’s economic development and explored opportunities to increase trade and investment between the two countries, the assistant press secretary said.
The prime minister and the high commissioner expressed hope that the existing relations would be further advanced through expanded cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
