Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Wednesday organised an awareness discussion and leaflet distribution programme on rising snake activity and safety precautions at the football field of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.
During the discussion, Farhana Yasmin, a member of the university’s Snake Rescue Team, briefed students on snake-related risks, ways to avoid encounters and what to do in case of a snakebite.
Leaflets containing information on different types of snakes, snakebite first-aid measures and safety precautions were also distributed.
Among other present at the discussion programme were Shuvosangho Islamic University branch President Nazmul Hussain, Vice President Khademul Islam, General Secretary Arif Billah, Joint General Secretary Manik Hossain, Finance Secretary Hammad Talukdar and Sports Secretary Mawazur Rahman, University’s Press Club Office Secretary Jisan Nazrul and Journalists’ Association Office Secretary Tanim Tanvir.
Arif Billah said snake activity has increased on the university campus in recent times, prompting Shuvosangho to organise the programme to raise awareness among students and help them respond appropriately to snake-related risks.
